Beech Mountain to Host Autumn at Oz this Weekend!

As fall foliage season begins to inch to near peak color this weekend in the High Country, Beech Mountain Resort will play host to lions and tigers and bears – oh my!

On Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, travel back in time to 1939 and the enchanted world of the Wizard of Oz, high atop Beech Mountain at the Land of Oz theme park. The 19th annual Autumn at Oz Festival is returning with a new set up, ultimately providing visitors with more activities but leaving with the same nostalgic feeling from the Land of Oz.

The Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the Autumn at Oz festival will now be based out of Beech Mountain Resort. The new set up will provide ample parking for visitors. The cost of tickets is $20 in advance and will include either a lift ride or a bus trip to the enchanted Land of Oz. The Resort village will enable the festival to expand their vendor area, including multiple food and beverage options, and an increased variety in merchandise and craft vendors. In addition to the vendor area the village will offer live music and entertainment for all ages.

In 1970, a small piece of magic opened on Beech Mountain. For ten years, the Land of Oz theme park enchanted visitors with replicas of the yellow brick road, Dorothy’s house, Uncle Harry’s barn, munchkin land, emerald city, and a full cast, portraying the vibrant characters from the original production.
