NC High Country Easter Events

After one of the longest, coldest winters in recent history, spring has finally arrived. The season is synonymous with many things—from wildflowers to warmer temperatures—but one of the things we’re looking forward to most is the Easter holiday. With Easter right around the corner, the NC High Country is abuzz with Easter-related activities that promise lots of fun for children and adults alike.

Boone North Carolina
Head to the Watauga County Library on Saturday March 27, 2010, to participate in Downtown Boone NC’s Easter Egg-Stravaganza! Visitors can enjoy puppet shows and arts and crafts at the library until 2:15 p.m., and then follow the route of the Easter Parade from the library to the Jones House Community Center, where the Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 2:30! Children 10 and under will love to hunt for eggs filled with candy, and a lucky few will stumble upon “golden eggs” that can be traded for prizes from area merchants!

The City of Blowing Rock
Also on March 27th, the Blowing Rock Easter Egg Festival is scheduled to take place in Memorial Park in Downtown Blowing Rock. This great festival is fun for kids and families! Call 828-295-5222 for more information!

Appalachian Ski Mountain
You can view our Appalachian Ski Mountain Webcam to check out great views of the slopes, or visit this ski resort in Blowing Rock NC on Saturday, April 3, to participate in Appalachian Ski Mountain’s Easter Extravaganza. The fun begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes the Intermediate Slope Strudel for skiers and riders age 6-12, a special Easter brunch, and two Easter egg hunts where participants can search for eggs containing hidden prizes, including a 2010-2011 Junior Season Membership! At 2:00 p.m., those 12 and older can participate in the raw egg toss, which is sure to be lots of fun!

Beech Mountain NC
High atop the slopes of Beech Mountain, where our Beech Mountain Cam is located, you’ll find Buckeye Recreation Center, the site of one of the Town of Beech Mountain NC’s most exciting Easter festivities. Buckeye’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Buckeye Recreation Center. The festivities will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with a light breakfast followed by the Easter Egg Hunt, Prize Eggs, the Bunny Hop, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself! You won’t want to miss all the entertainment at Beech Mountain Ski Resort!

If you don’t have plans for this Easter yet, consider participating in any of the fun community events going on throughout the North Carolina High Country in the upcoming days.
