The Area – High Country – Sugar Mountain NC
Sugar Mountain NC is widely known, at least regionally, for its renowned ski resort located on the slopes of the mountain. Throughout the mountain are several Rentals, many of which are houses and chalets that are located right near the slopes. As you make your way to the summit of Sugar Mountain, which has a top elevation of 5,300 feet, you will notice the enormous development and condo communities located near the summit. Many of these have the most exceptional panoramic views.
Sugar Ski Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina, as it has a total of 115 skiable acres. The resort is located in the community called the Village of Sugar Mountain, which is found right off of the main highway that leads to Banner Elk, Highway 184. Sugar Mountain Ski area also has the largest vertical drop in the state, which makes it hugely popular among winter sports enthusiasts. People love the Ski Cams located at this beloved attraction.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Sugar Mountain Ski area also offers tubing and ice skating at the resort, which means there is something for everyone. There are numerous places near the mountain and at Sugar Ski Resort itself that offer ski and snowboard rentals, and the tubing park at the resort will provide the inner tubes that you use to slide down the tubing hill.
