This weekend Banner Elk N.C. plays host to the 3rd annual, Banner Elk Herb Festival. The festival, which raises money for the Banner Elk Fire Department, as well as bringing countless dollars to the tourism industries, is a huge hit over the Memorial Day weekend holiday. Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th the grassy mall located in front of the historic Banner Elk School will be packed with folks browsing the various craft and food vendors, kids playing in the kids zone and the sounds of live music. This year the festival expects to offer more than 45 different vendors.
Check out not only plants and fresh herbs but also custom made jewelry, glass art, pottery, and so much more. Delicious traditional festival foods will also be available including homemade james, jellies, pies and fresh goat cheese. The event lasts 9-5 on Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday. Be sure to sign up for the "Dunk the Fireman" contest which invites attendees to try and dunk the fireman!
