West Jefferson is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina. The area is widely known for the New River, which is considered the world’s second oldest river and is one of a few that flows north.
The county of Ashe, where West Jefferson is located, borders both Tennessee and Virginia. Driving time to Boone, home of Appalachian State University, is approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
