17th Annual Taste of the High Country to Benefit Habitat for Humanity

It’s that time of year again folks!  The 17th annual Taste of the High Country fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity is scheduled for tomorrow, May 5, 2011.  From 5:00 to 7:30 pm. you can stop by the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center to savor and taste foods from a variety of Boone’s best Boone Restaurants.  Nineteen area High Country restaurants will serve food at the event, including Bandana’s BBQ, Casa Rustica, Canyons, Char, The Manor House at Chetola Resort, Earth Fare, Gadabouts Catering, Glidewell’s, Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill Inn, Makoto’s, Marble Slab Creamery, Maw’s Produce, Mother Nature’s Produce, Mr. Original Gyros, Pepper’s, Red Onion Café, Stick Boy Bakery, Vidalia’s and Woodlands BBQ.

Musician Andy Owens will play live music during the event and silent auction. This year’s auction items are fantastic!  Items up for bid include a children’s bicycle; furniture, including a hall table, antique vanity with mirror, Boston rocker and antique chest; a small Sony stereo system; and gift certificates from premier Boone NC Restaurants:  Dan’l Boone Inn, Sakura, Troy’s Diner, Capone’s Pizza, Beef O’Brady’s and other establishments.

Proceeds from the Taste of the High Country event benefit the Watauga Habitat for Humanity’s efforts.  Last year, 14,000 was raised at the event and proceeds are aiding in the completion of the 21st home for the county; let’s help make this year even better.  Tickets to Taste of the High Country are available now at all Boone Drug store locations, the Habitat ReStore on Old Highway 421 and at the Broyhill Inn for $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets at the door will be $22 for adults and $12 for students. Children under 5 are free.
