Get Ready for the Blowing Rock Art & Antiques Weekend Event!

Recently named North Carolina’s prettiest small town by a group of local journalists, Blowing Rock North Carolina is an aesthetically pleasing community with countless Shops in Blowing Rock, galleries, and Blowing Rock NC Restaurants to explore. Flowers bloom in profusion along the town’s quaint streets throughout the spring and summer, and its charming park is a great place to relax with a good book or just spend some time people watching between bouts of shopping or after a delicious meal. This coming weekend, July 29 through August 1, 2010, the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) will host the annual Art & Antiques Weekend at the Blowing Rock School, so get ready to enjoy good food and great shopping along with that amazing Blowing Rock NC Weather.

If you want to be the first to sort through the array of available items at this annual exhibition and sale, visit the Early Bird Sale & Preview Party, which will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 29. The cost is just $30 per person, and reservations can be made by calling the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum at (828) 295-9099. Those who can’t make it on Thursday will have the option of shopping for art and antiques from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets to the event are $10, and are good for all three days. Visitors will have the option of refreshing and refueling with lunches provided by the Blowing Rock Café, which will set up shop at the Blowing Rock School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day of the Art & Antiques Weekend. And don’t forget that this event will feature more than just delicious food and prime shopping opportunities. On Friday, July 30, at 9 a.m., Lisa Castles will present a lecture called “Antique Silver.” Admission is $20 per person and guests will enjoy coffee and croissants while listening to this silver expert expound upon her passion. The following day, Bill Brooks will discuss glass as an artistic medium in his lecture “The Beauty of Cut Glass,” which will take place at 9 a.m. The $20 cost of admission also includes refreshments.

This fun weekend is a great way to get out and explore this charming community while enjoying the Blowing Rock NC Weather.
