The center is a new 22,500-square-foot facility that houses numerous recreational opportunities, including indoor basketball, volleyball, tennis, a fitness/exercise room, a conference room with catering facility, and a playroom for children under 12. It is named for and near Buckeye Lake, which is also a centerpiece of the town. Softball fields, a playground for children, and a loop with several hiking and biking trails surround Buckeye Lake on Beech Mountain.
