The MusicFest n’ Sugar Grove

For those unfamiliar with the Annual MusicFest n’ Sugar Grove NC, you’re missing out! The MusicFest n’ Sugar Grove, scheduled for July 8 and 9th, hosts a wonderful array of singer/songwriters in bluegrass, old-time, blues and Americana. Bands appearing on stage do so to show their appreciation of Doc Watson and the influence he has had over their musical careers. This year will be the 14th annual festival and among the music ticket holders will be able to enjoy an assortment of backyard foods (Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Corn on the cob, BBQ, Funnel Cakes, etc.) and soft drinks (no alcohol or coolers allowed during the festival).

Among the many talented artists featured at the 2011 show the Musicfest Lineup includes Doc Watson, Richard Watson and Charles Welch, Kruger Brothers, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Southern Exposure, Sound Traveler, Swing Guitars, Upright N’ Breathin’, Up Hill Both Ways, Neil Cribbs and many more! One of the beauties of this particular High Country Music festival is the intimate setting where you can both see the stage and mingle with the musicians. If you like what you hear, and you’re sure to be pleased, vendors will be set up around the area to offer musical instruments/supplies, CDs, tapes, t-shirts, etc. to help support the music and send you home with souvenirs.

Proceeds from MusicFest N’ Sugargrove benefit the Doc and Merle Watson Folk Art Museum located inside the Old Cove Creek School, a living tribute to the Watsons. The museum will be open during the festival and is free to anyone with a festival ticket. Outside the school, games and activities will be available for the kids to enjoy. This family friendly environment is ideal for music lovers of the high country and beyond.

Advanced tickets are available for Friday for $15 and Saturday for $20. Two day reserved seating tickets are available for $55. Tickets will also be available at the gate for Friday for $20 and Saturday for $25. Special groups rates are available upon request and as always children under 12 get in free with a paying adult. Tickets are on sale now!
