Banner Elk

The Area – High Country

Maybe you are one of the people that has heard about the views of the Blue Ridge that surround the town of Banner Elk, or are one of the millions that have visited the Ski Resorts in North Carolina near Banner Elk. Whatever the case, Banner Elk North Carolina is still a well-guarded secret in the Blue Ridge, but we are glad you found it and you will be, too! This small town is filled with historic mountain places and unique natural attractions that keep the tourists visiting year after year. Since the late 1800s, visitors from places such as Charlotte, Raleigh, Columbia SC, Atlanta GA, and even farther away have set their sights on owning getaways and luxury mountain homes in this Blue Ridge paradise, making it a top spot to retire and a wonderful place where many own vacation homes and retreats.

Year round, the population of the town jumps and dips due to visitors and second home owners coming and going. Typically, the warmer weather months bring their own population of retired southerners looking to escape the heat of the Deep South; in the winter months, families, church groups, and college kids flock to the town to enjoy all of the natural snow and fresh powder on the slopes of the Ski Resorts that are located in Banner Elk. Summers are filled with concerts in the park, the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, and lots of opportunity to get outside and enjoy the outdoors in our area. Autumn is known for leaf watching and fall festivals such as the Beech Mountain Oz Festival and the Woolly Worm Festival, and the winters are always a hit among snow enthusiasts as the town gets blasted with plenty of natural snowfall.
