High Country NC

The High Country is an amazing region of the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. The area is named for the high rising mountain peaks and high elevations of most of the communities and towns that are located within the region. The High Country region spans from Blowing Rock all the way to the highest elevations in the region atop Beech Mountain (elevation 5,506 feet). It encompasses communities, towns, and cities such as Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and beyond, and primarily spans two counties: Watauga County and Avery County. Most people consider Boone, where Appalachian State University is located, the “heart” of the High Country. Small towns and resort areas such as Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are highly visited areas where many like to vacation and others are lucky enough to have second homes. This region is growing by leaps and bounds and we provide some of the best shots in the area from the Boone Web Cams, Blowing Rock Web Cams, Banner Elk Web Cams, and Ski Resort Cams. We invite you to learn more about the areas in which some of our most popular Mountain Cams are located. Browse to read about these charming towns nestled in the mountains of Western NC. Recently, Ashe County, which is located a few miles outside of Boone, has experienced a great deal of growth and it is more common for locals to consider it part of the High Country region. We also have cameras set up in a variety of other locations that surround the High Country and in regions that are farther away.
